we’re inviting incredible artists (like yourself!) to guest in our first-class studio, located in the heart of Fremantle, western australia. We love hosting guests and welcoming new faces to the studio, and ensure visiting artists are provided with support, kindness and a good time. we are a non-discriminatory studio.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us - we’d love to chat.

**Selectivity:** We take great pride in the studios we've created and are committed to preserving our space to ensure a calm environment and a consistent workflow for our artists. Given the popularity of our studios, we receive a large volume of requests from guest artists each year. While we are genuinely grateful for the interest, we tend to be selective about who we accept. Our aim is to foster a guest artist community, allowing us to build friendships and relationships with individuals we enjoy collaborating with. This approach not only reduces pressure on our studio but also helps maintain a healthy flow of work for our artists. Many artists from the eastern states of Australia regularly rotate through our studio, alongside international guest artists on working visas who stay with us for periods ranging from 3 to 12 months.

We also have accommodation available for our guests. This approach allows us to provide our guest artists with not only access to a client base but also a harmonious and enjoyable experience while they are with us.

ACCommadation available!

We can provide accommodation that grants you access to both of our studios, making it conveniant for you to work and stay.

If you are interested in extending your stay or planning a returning visit, please note that many artists tend to develop a clientele base during their short-term tenure within the studio and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and lifestyle in Fremantle. We typically accommodate guest artists for extended periods, usually between 3-4 months. However, it is important to inform you that we receive a large number of guest artist requests. To maintain a balanced and comfortable environment without overcrowding and competition for clients, we selectively schedule guest artists. As a result, our current wait-list for becoming a guest artist extends to 2-3 months.

In order to maintain our exclusivity, we prefer to have our artists vouched for by either one of our residents, long-term guests, or part guest artists whos been with us previously. This ensures that we are accepting artists who share the same values, work ethics, and align with our studio's vision.

Our focus is on popular tattoo styles like fine line, single line, minimalist, and micro realism, with the goal of setting new standards and leading trends in the region. While Elysian will remain an exclusive private studio space, Hoochimama is designed as a modern interpretation of a walk-in street shop style studio. Our Journey: Stemming from the acquisition of an existing studio, Hoochimama has blossomed into a thriving street shop boasting 12 artist bays. Hoochimama introduces a new identity, vibrant ambiance, and a premier placement in Fremantle's CBD.

How much space is there for me and when can i Guest?

Our studio space is 200sqm. We usually have 6 work stations dedicated to long term guest artists and 4 to short term guest artists. (22 artists bays in total) This can accommodate two or more artists travelling as a pair.

Due to our expanding popularity in hosting guests, we have recently experienced a surge in requests from artists. To ensure that our guests have a seamless and enjoyable experience with us, we are taking significant steps to organize and schedule our guests in a balanced manner. We place a high value on our guests' satisfaction and are always on the lookout for opportunities to assist them in growing their client base. We therefore kindly ask that our guests, especially those traveling in groups, provide us with adequate advance notice of their visit dates and complete information regarding their stay plans. This will allow us to manage the guest scheduling process smoothly and efficiently and prevent overcrowding in the studio. It will also assist artists in avoiding conflicting schedules and competing for resources.

"We currently have an average waitlist of 3 months for new guest artists, which also provides ample time for us to promote their arrival."

we wanted to inform you that our studio has made some changes in response to the growing demand for international guest artists. In order to maintain a calm and relaxed environment, we have become more selective in who we invite into our space. Our primary goal is to strike a balance between our resident and guest artists, ensuring that both groups can work effectively. To achieve this, we are now prioritizing artists who are interested in longer guest spots, ranging from 2 months to a year. This allows us to build strong relationships with overseas artists and provide them with ample opportunities to make use of our studio's client base. Since implementing this approach, we have noticed a significant increase in artists wanting to guest with us under these conditions. As a result, our workstations have been occupied for longer periods of time, resulting in limited opportunities for short-term guests. If you would like to learn more about the opportunities available to artists interested in longer guest spots, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are more than happy to provide further information.

Is there much work for tattooing in Perth?

Elysian Tattoo Co has spent the past 7 years diligently building our brand and growing our client base. We take pride in the organic traffic generated through our social media platforms, which has allowed our artists to thrive. Western Australia's economy is currently being driven by the mining industry, making it the strongest in the country. Additionally, Perth benefits from its isolated location and a lower concentration of tattoo studios and artists compared to the eastern side of Australia. As a result, the tattoo scene in Perth has flourished, and our studio's resident artists typically have a waitlist of 3-9 months on average.

What styles are popular in WA?

Perth is currently witnessing a high demand for various tattoo styles, with micro-realism, contemporary black and grey, colour realism, and abstract work being particularly popular. Our studio has earned a strong reputation for excelling in these specific styles. In regard to larger tattoo projects, it is quite common for our clients to book appointments specifically for large-scale pieces, such as sleeves. Furthermore, our studio has gained popularity among guest artists, attracting a significant following on our social media accounts. Many of our clients enjoy contacting these guest artists directly for a unique and personalized tattoo experience. As a result, we have become well-known as the go-to studio for guest artists within Perth's tattoo community.

How do booking inquiries work?

As an artist, you have the responsibility and duty of care towards your clients. All deposits and charges for tattoos are between the artist and the client.

We will drive traffic to your socials and ask clients to contact you directly through your preferred method (email, social, etc).

What hours can I work?

The studio is equipped with a digital locking system that requires a pin code for access. Guest artists will receive the pin code the day before their scheduled appearance, granting them 24-hour access to the studio. Our standard operating hours for staff and resident artists are from 10 am until late. The first client appointments usually begin at 11 am. Artists are welcome to work late if they prefer, as staying after hours does not require a key. Instead, they can simply use the pin code to lock up again.

I Don’t have a following in Perth - can you find me bookings?

Being Perth's premium studio, we have a strong organic following on our socials and predominantly fill bookings for all of our guest artists, no matter the style. We take great pride in our esteemed studio here in Perth and our reputation for hosting exceptional guest artists. We want to ensure that your bookings are prioritized, regardless of your artistic style. In order to maintain a well-balanced workload and prevent overcrowding in our studio, we make an effort to distribute guest artists' apparences evenly throughout the year.

While we do welcome walk-in clients, our main source of clientele comes through social media. To help you expand your client base and promote your work, we kindly request that you provide us with any promotional opportunities you may have available. Sharing high-quality photos and videos that showcase your remarkable work will allow us to effectively promote you. We also encourage you to tag our studio in your social media posts, as we appreciate clear and visually appealing content. As part of our commitment to supporting you, we would be more than happy to share your content on our platforms and help raise awareness of your brand. Additionally, we strongly encourage all our artists to consider running social media ads. This valuable opportunity will allow you to display your unique tattooing style to a wider audience and enhance your exposure within Western Australia.

What food options are there around the studio?

Everything! As we are located in the CENTER of Fremantle, there are many fantastic restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs and fast food options (as seen here).

When we host guest artists the studio normally goes for breakfast or dinner together.

Where do you order your tattoo supplies from?

We have two local suppliers in Western Australia, namely Industry Tattoo Supply and The Tattoo Warehouse. However, many artists prefer ordering from Protat in Adelaide, as they are Australia's largest tattoo supplier. To provide convenience, we have an in-house studio shop where we keep a limited supply of tattoo products. This is especially helpful for artists who are traveling and do not want to rely solely on suppliers. Our shop stocks items such as cartridge needles, ink, bactine, adhesive bandages, mixing solutions, and more. If you are a guest artist planning to visit us, please reach out beforehand to confirm the availability of these items. For artists who prefer to ship their tattoo supplies ahead of time, we are more than happy to set aside your packages for safekeeping. Simply let us know, and we will take care of it.

Western Australian tattoo suppliers:

East coast tattoo suppliers (Please note that Perth is a very isolated city/ please allow 3-5 business days for deliveries to arrive)

Any tattoo conventions I could line my guest spot up with?

We have one tattoo convention in Perth each year, held in September www.tattooexpo.com.au

We are delighted to provide our versatile studio space for guest artists seeking short-term stays. Whether you require the space for a single day or a couple weeks, if availability permits, we would be more than happy to accommodate you.

LONG-TERM GUEST and residenat artsit POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

Would you be interested in relocating to Australia and joining our studio as an artist? We are excited to announce that our studio is growing in popularity, and we are even opening a second location. As a result, we are now prioritizing guest artists who are interested in long-term commitments of 3+ months or more, or semi-resident artists. We have had great success with guest artists in the past, attracting talent from both within the country and internationally. They have stayed with us for durations ranging from three months to a year. If you are considering a gap year in Perth, we would love to hear from you and discuss the possibilities further. Additionally, we can assist you with applying for the appropriate working visas.

DO YOU HOST MANY INTERNATIONAL GUEST ARTISTS?

We are thrilled to extend an invitation to talented international guest artists to join our team at Elysian Tattoo Co. We offer opportunities for both short-term and long-term guest spots, but please note that we can only accept international artists who hold valid working visas. At Elysian Tattoo Co., we understand the power of social media and marketing in promoting the works of our guest artists. Our aim is to generate significant interest among our clientele in Perth, ensuring that they are informed about the upcoming talented guest artists who will be joining our team. We want our guest artists to be in high demand and have a busy schedule. To ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience for everyone involved, we have a strict policy of only collaborating with international artists who possess valid working visas. By doing so, we can avoid any potential immigration issues for both our studio and the artists themselves.

It's important to note that Western Australia’s tattoo industry and immigration authorities are vigilant about preventing illegal workers. Studio checks across Perth are quite common, and we want to ensure that we meet all legal requirements.

Various visa options are available for artists to enter the country and work legally. If we find any artists supplying us with inaccurate or false visa details, we will immediately terminate your guest spot. What’s there to see and do in Fremantle?

Being one of the oldest areas settled in Australia, Fremantle is known for its historic buildings and architecture, which characterises the city. Over time many bars, pubs, restaurants and cafes have been established throughout the city which makes Fremantle one of the most vibrant and popular areas of Perth.

There are many things to see like the Fremantle Prison which is listed on the World Heritage list, art galleries and street art, breweries like Gage Roads and Little Creatures, and the famous cappuccino strip where you can find a range of cafes with great coffee (plus a few hidden cafes off the beaten track - just ask us where).

Fremantle is a port city located on the coast. The studio is a 5-10 minute walk from the beach; there is always time to take a dip on days off or before or after work.

If you're looking for some adventurous island time, Rottnest Island is only 20 minutes away by ferry, which departs from Fremantle. Spend your time on Rotto riding your bike from bay to bay, diving into crystal clear blue water, having a pub feed overlooking Thompson Bay - and don’t forget to take a quokka selfie! If you want to stay the night, Rotto has camping, budget and luxury accommodation options. Make sure you book well ahead as it is frequently booked out.

Anything to see outside of Perth?

The Margaret River Region is located a 3 hour drive south of Perth, and is known for its amazing beaches and world-class wineries. It's good for surfing, wine tasting, camping and immersing yourself in nature. If you head down, ask us for our tips for the best wineries and things to see.

When you arrive at our studio, we want to ensure your convenience and provide you with helpful information. That's why we will give you a guest artist's information sheet, which can also be accessed here. GUESTING DATES:

Due to our expanding popularity in hosting guests, we have recently experienced a surge in requests from artists. To ensure that our guests have a seamless and enjoyable experience with us, we are taking significant steps to organize and schedule our guests in a balanced manner. We place a high value on our guests' satisfaction and are always on the lookout for opportunities to assist them in growing their client base. ARTISTS:

As an artist, you have the responsibility and duty of care towards your clients. All deposits and charges for tattoos are between the artist and the client.

When working in the studio, it's your responsibility to ensure that your workspace is clean and that you adhere to the Western Australian health regulations while tattooing.

Welcome to the studio! Here are some important things to note to help you on your first day:

BOOKING system:

If you are an artist planning to stay with us for an extended period, we have a booking system available that you can utilize. While this system is completely optional, we highly encourage long term artists to take advantage of its benefits. Using the booking system automatically sends confirmation text messages to clients, providing them with detailed tattoo booking policies and aftercare instructions. Additionally, it helps our staff and apprentices plan ahead by providing them with information on when artists will be working, enabling them to set up their workstations in advance.

Please be aware that Elysian Tattoo Co holds no liability for guest artists or the work they independently produce. The studio cannot guarantee the quality of their work, touch-ups, or the individual booking policies of guest artists.

STUDIO ACCESS:

Our studio has implemented a secure electronic door lock system for access. As a guest artist, you will be assigned a unique PIN code that will provide you with 24/7 entry to the studio. Please note that the screen is sensitive, so kindly touch softly rather than pressing hard.

It is important to keep your assigned PIN code confidential and for your own use only.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to use the door lock system:

Step 1: To unlock the door, simply enter your PIN code followed by the # key. This will unlock the door temporarily. The door will then lock automatically after a few seconds.

“Unlocked” pause “Locked”

Step 2: If you want the door to remain unlocked after entering your PIN code, proceed to step 1 and then type 123# after your code. This will set the door to passage mode, keeping it unlocked.

“Unlocked, Door is set to passage mode”

Step 3: When you are ready to leave and secure the studio, re-enter your PIN code followed by the # key. The door will again unlock temporarily and then lock after a short delay of 5 seconds. Please be patient during this time.

”Unlocked” pause “Locked”

Feel free to work late into the night, as we encourage artist creativity and flexibility in our studio. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

SUnDAY ACCESS:

On Sundays, there is a locked door in the stairwell that restricts access to the studio. If you plan to work on a Sunday, kindly inform us in advance so that we can arrange for staff to be present or provide you with a key for entry.

OPENING AND CLOSING TIMES:

Our studio operates seven days a week, with most artists arriving at 10:00am and clients allowed in at 11:00am. We kindly request that artists refrain from seeing clients before the specified opening time to avoid disruption to our cleaning schedule. Additionally, we ask that all artists conclude their day by emptying their contaminated waste into the larger bin located in the sterilization room. Please also remember to turn off the artist light and place your chair on the bed to assist our apprentices with their cleaning responsibilities.

Lock-up checklist:

- Ensure all lights are switched off.

- Turn off the air conditioner in both areas.

- Double-check that all doors are locked.

- Note: The music and TV's may be left on.

- Remember to close the door to the stairwell after 5:00 PM. Please ensure that you lock the door before leaving to prevent any unauthorized access or theft of equipment. Thank you for your cooperation.

The keys for the toilets, which are accessible to both clients and staff, are hanging on the left side of the red bull fridge in the main kitchen/consumables area. Upon leaving through the front door, the toilets are located to the left and can be accessed by passing through the cage gate. It's important to remember to lock the cage gate once you're finished using the facilities.

PHOTOS:

Seeking the ideal location for capturing stunning photos of your tattoo? Artists are venturing into different imaginative spaces to shoot their photos, yet the front room remains a popular choice. Within this space, you'll discover a range of lighting options for artists, including ring lights and LED camera lights, all equipped with CPL film. Don't hesitate to switch off any studio lights to set a desired atmosphere or utilize the remote control to activate the electric drop-down sheets for added visual appeal.

Tattoo SUPPLIErs:

In Western Australia, we have two tattoo supply stores, Industry Tattoo Supply and Tattoo Warehouse. While these stores cater to the needs of many resident artists, most of them prefer to purchase from Melbourne Tattoo Supplies or Protat, located in Adelaide. Both are known as Australia's largest tattoo supplier, offering a wide range of products in stock. It's important to note, however, that ordering from Prototype may require some additional time for delivery.

instore tattoo shop:

To facilitate easier travel for guest artists, we have now launched our very own tattoo supply shop. This shop provides a convenient option for artists to purchase necessary items they may prefer not to carry while traveling. Our wide selection includes cartridge needles, inks, Bactein adhesive bandages, and mixing solution. If you would like to utilize our shop, kindly inform us in advance so we can confirm our current stock availability. To gain access to the shop, please notify our staff as our products are securely kept.

Please note that we do not supply machines, power supply, inks, needles, adhesive bandage. These are ales items only.

our inventory primarily consists of basic tattoo supplies. If you need a specific gauge of needle, prefer a particular brand, or require other items that cater to your specific style, we recommend pre-ordering your supplies from the mentioned tattoo suppliers. This ensures that you will have the appropriate equipment upon your arrival for tattooing. While we strive to assist, it is not our responsibility to stock every brand or needle configuration.

TATTOOING SOMEONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18:

At our studio, we have a policy of not tattooing individuals below the age of 18.

As per the laws of Western Australia, it is a punishable offense to tattoo or brand anyone under the age of 17. In case of any exception for minors below the age of 18, it is required written consent from their parent or guardian who must also be present during the tattoo appointment. Can clients bring their friends to our studio? We have limited space available, especially for large groups of friends. We kindly request that clients limit the number of friends they bring to their appointments to just one.

MERCHANDISE AND AFTERCARE SALES:

Please use our iPad for all merchandise and aftercare sales. On the iPad, you can find an app represented by a grey square icon. This app is used for all sales of stock in the front waiting room. If you are unsure how to use it, please don't hesitate to ask our staff for assistance.

To make your Fremantle experience even more unforgettable during your stay at Elysian Tattoo Co, be sure to visit the iconic Fremantle Markets! The markets are a must-see and operate every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The nearby café strip, pubs and clubs, beach and Fremantle Prison are all within walking distance from the studio, making them incredibly accessible.
